Gionee said it has plans to double its sales to 8 million units this year. Gionee is known for its budget smartphone range with cheap prices and claims to have about four per cent share of the Indian handset market. The company is working with consultancy firm EY to find out potential partner and locations across India. Gionee has already shortlisted two potential location though it has to be confirmed by the head of manufacturing of Gionee who will be visiting both the locations in about three weeks time Only time can tell as to who will be the leader in the Indian smartphone market in coming years as other smartphone manufacturers like Karbonn and Xiaomi are also ramping up their production plans to satiate the demands of mobile hungry Indians.
