These lock screen ads are the work of the “Windows Spotlight” feature in Windows 10 Personalization settings, and thankfully, you can turn it off for good. To remove Windows 10’s lock screen ads, click on your Start menu, and open up the Settings app:

From here, choose the Personalization setting, and then navigate to the Lock Screen tab.

Once this is open, find the field that reads “Windows Spotlight”, and click on the box. You can switch this to display either a “Picture” or a “Slideshow”, depending on your personal preference.

If you select Picture, this will disable Microsoft from automatically pushing ads to your login screen without your permission. In the picture you can display anything you want from your album.

Also remember to un-check the option for “Get fun facts, tips, tricks, and more on your lock screen”. This will disable the Spotlight’s ability to use your lockscreen. Some people out there may actually like the ads being shown on their lockscreens. For them, Microsoft offers a option to tailor the ads based on their interests instead of random ones. You can tell Microsoft what’s relevant by clicking the icon in the top-right corner of your lock screen:

Click that will give you two options “I want more!” and “Not a fan.”. The former will give you more content related to that specific kind of ad, while the latter will change the ads to some different genre.
