Announcing the all new LG G4, LG CEO and President, Juno Cho said, “We are living up to our promise of innovation for a better life with a fashionable, premium smartphone that is more focused on delivering a balanced user experience that can compete with the best of the best,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We wanted to give consumers a truly human-centric device that combined the analog sensibilities with technologies that delivered real world performance. From the design to the camera to the display to the UX, this is the most ambitious phone we’ve ever created.” The new LG smartphone intends to sweep the market with beefed up cameras, yes, LG G4 will feature 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera lens has a wide f/1.8 aperture and is paired with a sensor LG says, measures up to those found in high-end point-and-shoots. Aesthetically, LG has spent lot of time into G4 because the luxury version G4 will feature genuine leather finish with black and brown colours while the standard G4 will come in normal metallic (grey) & ceramic (white) options. Another notable feature on the G4 is its removable backplate. It remains to be seen whether the leather finish strikes a chord among buyers like Apple’s gold iPhone 5s did in 2014. The LG G4’s design features a ‘Slim Arc’, which runs along its entire body, highlighted by a display with a subtle curvature. LG claims that Slim Arc offers 20 percent better durability than a flat smartphone in face-down drops, while also offering a better grip. The LG G4 comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS Quantum display which gives a resolution of 1440 x 2560 at 538 PPI and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor SoC with a 1.8GHz 64-bit Hexa-Core CPU. The G4 will run on 3GB RAM and have 32GB internal storage which is expandable to a whopping 2TB via microSD card slot. LG G4 comes with 3000mAh removable battery and it will be run on Android 5.1 Lollipop out with LG’s new UX 4.0 on top. Google Office comes pre-installed on the LG G4 and G4 buyers will receive an additional 100GB of Google Drive storage free for two years. The LG G4 will start shipping on April 29 in Korea while in the U.S. it will be available through AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular “in the next few weeks” Prices and carrier availability will be announced locally in each market.
