Just less than a year ago, China-based OnePlus has released its second generation device known as One Plus 2. Now, the Chinese startup has officially launched its third-generation smartphone – the OnePlus 3 in its The Loop VR app. The best part about the launch is that you do not need an invitation to purchase one.
“We know that the best smartphone is the one that works exactly how you want it to,” said OnePlus Founder and CEO Pete Lau. “The OnePlus 3 delivers that experience. It combines what our customers already love about our products with what they want and expect next. It’s a flagship smartphone inspired by – and made for – our fans.”
On the specifications front, the smartphones features a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED with Full HD (1920 x 1080px) resolution and Gorilla Glass 4 protection to save from scratches and scuffs. It is powered by Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with Adreno 530 GPU and comes with 6GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of built-in storage but without a MicroSD slot. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (dubbed OxygenOS) and is powered by a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery. To charge this battery, you will have to go through a USB Type-C port on the bottom, which also supports OnePlus’ “Dash Charge,” which is one of the key features highlighted by the company that promises “a day’s power in half an hour.” “Not all fast charging technologies are created equal. Dash Charge for the OnePlus 3 is faster, safer, cooler – and simply better – than any other charging technology available today. Providing over 60% charge in just 30 short minutes, Dash Charge changes the way we think about convenience.” For camera lovers, it has a 16MP rear camera with Sony IMX298 sensor with both electronic (EIS) and optical image stabilization (OIS). It has HDR support and captures 4K video recording at 30fps and 720p video recording at 120fps. It also has an 8MP front camera with Sony IMX179 sensor that can capture 1080p video at 30fps. It weighs 158grams and measures 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35mm.
Among the other features, the OnePlus 3 has a fingerprint sensor that the company claims can unlock the device in 0.2 seconds. It sports a sleek design made of anodized aluminium, and has a 3.5 mm audio jack. It also comes with Dual-SIM support and features 4G LTE connectivity (Cat. 6), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and more.
OnePlus 3 will only be available in Graphite now, but a Soft Gold variation is in the works. OnePlus 3 is available for online order now from OnePlus.net for $399 (Rs.27,999) for a 64GB Graphite model.
