Now OnePlus has announced that its OnePlus One smartphones is available for purchase online without the requirements of ‘Invite’. The OnePlus One Invite was very much sought after in world tech forums and Facebook pages and is being sold/bartered at a premium. With this announcement the OnePlus One and its forthcoming OnePlus Two smartphones will be available to users without the mandatory invite.

OnePlus had followed a policy of selling the OnePlus One handset via an invite-only system up to now but the company is opening up the smartphone sales for all users to buy through the more traditional channel for 24 hours each week.

OnePlus has also announced a one-day promotion which offers 75 percent discounts on its flip covers and premium screen protectors. However, these deals are only limited to the US, Canada, the European Union, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

OnePlus has received tonnes of flak over its restrictive sales policies, but the invitation only system has some clear benefits for the young fledgling company. OnePlus can keep manufacturing costs in check and minimize the amount of money it sinks into stocks, and the savings are passed to the customer. OnePlus has always claimed it makes very little money on each phone it sells, though exact figures are not public.
