According to a Reddit thread, Facebook has added a “hidden” setting in the Messenger app that allows you to turn on or off the dark mode feature. Here’s how you can activate Messenger’s secret, hidden dark-mode theme on your devices without waiting for Facebook to officially announce the feature. Note, if you have tried sending the crescent moon emoji and still don’t have the dark mode in Settings, then turn off the Messenger app completely and relaunch it before tapping on the moon emoji....

Earlier Facebook reminded you to call your mother, now the social networking behemoth is trying something different this Mother’s Day. It will be adding a new flower reaction to the already existing six reactions that it had enabled in Feb, 2016. Over the years, fingerprints and retina scans have been found to be easily hackable but researchers say it is impossible to fake or recreate an user’s internal ear canal which the basic requirement of ear-based login. The ear-based login system has been developed by researchers from NEC and it works by sending sound into someone’s ear and then measuring the echoes they receive. The echo is based on sound reflected from someone’s external ear canal, the tympanic membrane, and by sound that goes beyond the tympanic membrane and is reflected within the inner parts of the ear....

The end of support means the company would now no longer be offering public security updates or fixes, software updates or technical support for Windows 7. However, businesses that haven’t migrated to Windows 10 in time can pay for Extended Security Updates (ESU). According to a local German newspaper, Handelsblatt, the German government which still has more than 33,000 computers running on Windows 7 has decided to pay €800,000 ($887,000) to Microsoft this year for ESU in order to keep their PCs updated and patched....

The new experiment ‘Keen’ has been developed as part of Area 120, Google`s workshop for experimental projects, in close collaboration with a team at Google called People and AI Research (PAIR), which is dedicated to human-centered machine learning systems. Keen, which is a web and Android app, lets the users create their own version of Pinterest’s board. “On Keen, you say what you want to spend more time on, and then curate content from the web and people you trust to help make that happen,” wrote CJ Adams, Co-founder of Keen in a blog post....

Facebook is apparently under attack from the Great Cannon, the hacking and censuring tool clandestinely used by the Chinese government. The hack attack follows a simple method, redirect and confuse users so that they dont visit Facebook. Even the sites that are using Facebook Connect login widget are not spared. Sites using the Facebook Connect login widget are seeing their traffic hijacked or redirected to the above two websites. Incidentally, neither of the above two sites have any remotest connection with the PLA or the Chinese governement; wpkg....

That’s what happened when a hacker deceived Facebook gained access to someone else’s account. The hacker posing as a user reportedly got in touch with Facebook to seek assistance to access his account, as he was unable to do so. He provided them with a fake ID and requested the tech giant to turn off login approvals. It was no surprise that the hacker was able to get Facebook to grant access to the account....
