A tweet shared by a former design executive at Nokia, Peter Skillman who worked on a Nokia Lumia proved that these handsets can indeed handle tough damage – and can even stop a bullet. “A Nokia phone I worked on a few years ago saved the life of a man in Afghanistan last week. The embedded bullet,” he wrote. This is yet to be confirmed, but Mr Skillman shared the image of the phone which shows how the bullet got stuck in the middle of the phone’s body, demolishing it completely but keeping its user out of danger....

Thanks to the research group of MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) who claimed to have created a computer that will never lose data in the event of a crash. The team from MIT’s CSAIL said that the new system is “mathematically guaranteed’ not to lose information by accident, such as though a system crash or other failure. MIT researchers will present the first file system at the ACM Symposium on Operating Systems Principles in October, which will show that the system is mathematically guaranteed not to lose track of data during crashes....

Mehmet Selim Kiraz who was a public prosecutor in Istanbul was held hostage by members of the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C).
