The service called Watch will allow its Facebook users to subscribe to shows inside its apps and desktop site and watch them in a dedicated tab. Based on the user’s preferences, the new video tab will offer a customised variety of shows and what their friends are watching. The first slate of programming is expected to include around 40 shows from different publishing partners and content studios. “Watching video on Facebook has the incredible power to connect people, spark conversation and foster community,” Daniel Danker, Facebook’s Director of Product, announced on Wednesday....

According to Gizmodo, for the March 4 session, the fifth most popular question with 61 votes was; ‘What responsibility does Facebook have to help prevent President Trump in 2017?’ While Facebook employees may want an answer from Mark but Facebook insists that it does not try and influence the way people vote. The leaked correspondence released last Wednesday is a part of a long-running lawsuit between Facebook and Six4Three LLC, a former Facebook app developer that produced a way to search for bikini pictures from user’s contacts on the social media site. The trove of emails and messages running into nearly 7,000 pages of confidential internal Facebook documents were leaked to Duncan Campbell in February 2019 but were first published last Wednesday....

It will not have Suggested For You posts in Feeds and ads are included. “One of the most requested features for Facebook is to make sure people don’t miss friends’ posts. Tech news website, TechCrunch on Thursday had reported that messages sent by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and other senior executives on Messenger were retracted from recipients’ inboxes without a trace while their replies remained intact. This facility is not available for regular Facebook users. The sudden disappearance of messages did not go well with its users, with some considering it as a breach of trust, while some even questioning if Zuckerberg had something to hide....

The Apple vs FBI fight came to fore when an US court ordered Apple to unlock the San Bernardino shooter’s iPhone 5c under the All Writs Act, an obscure 18th-century statute. The court ordered Apple to develop ways for the FBI to access the shooter’s iPhone. Apple has contested the order saying that such hack or backdoor could create an unhealthy precedence and authorities could force Apple to bake in backdoors in all its products and snoop on its users....

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge is curved at sides and this gives the phone its elite look. The edge serves the purpose to view favorite contacts and missing alerts and texts from these contacts. However, it has been found that Gatekeeper allows hackers sneak malware onto your Mac by completely bypassing the famous Mac security. Using specially crafted exploit, cyber attackers are able to open malicious Mac app, even if it is configured to open only those downloaded from App store. The exploit was discovered by Patrick Wardle, director of research at security firm Synack. Wardle found that the exploit is made possible thanks to a key design shortcoming in Gatekeeper that allows an attacker to use a binary file already trusted by Apple to execute malicious files....

Google Inc.’s life sciences group has invested on a health-tracking device or a wristband that could be used in clinical trials and drug tests, giving doctors, researchers or physicians minute-by-minute data on how patients are faring. The experimental device, developed within the company’s Google X research division, can measure pulse, heart rhythm and skin temperature, and also environmental information like light exposure and noise levels. It won’t be marketed as a consumer device, said Andy Conrad, head of the life sciences team at Google....

Finally, Google has announced that starting September, Chrome will block behind the scenes Flash content. Chrome 53, which is scheduled for a September release, will be the first web browser from Google to block Flash content by default. Chrome is expected to set HTML5 as the default medium for games and videos by December. However, sites that exclusively support Flash will be unaffected. “Flash helped make the Web a rich, dynamic experience, and shaped the modern set of web standards....

According to the company, this will allow sufficient time for the general public, regulators, publishers, and the advertising industry to migrate their services and prepare for the change.
