CEO Tim Cook and other executives are expected to announce major developments to iPhones, MacBooks, watches, and TVs and show off new versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Let us go through Apple’s biggest updates that are likely to be announced at WWDC 2019: iOS 13 iOS 13 is expected to be the next version of Apple’s mobile operating system that will run on iPhones, iPads, including iPod Touch. In comparison to iOS 12’s largely performance-focused update, iOS 13 is expected to have more new features, such as a system-wide dark mode for easy viewing of the device at night while reducing battery consumption, a revamped home screen, and a new swipe keyboard. Further, iOS 13 will bring a bunch of updates to Apple’s own apps such as Mail, Reminders, Messages, and Health. Also, Apple will be merging the Find My Friends and Find My iPhone apps into a single app called Find My app. It will also bring improvements to developer tools and frameworks, like ARKit, NFC, and SiriKit. For iPad users, iOS 13 is expected to bring an updated multitasking experience wherein the tablet can display multiple windows in a single app using a tabbed interface and stackable windows. Further, a new three-finger gesture that will allow users to undo or redo an action. There is also a rumor that the iPad may finally get mouse support in iOS 13. macOS 10.15 Along with iOS 13, Apple is likely to announce the new version of its macOS, which is macOS 10.15 that is expected to bring support for iPad apps. The Cupertino giant is working on a project codenamed “Marzipan” that will allow developers to easily port their iOS or iPhone apps to the Mac. It is rumored that adding of iPhone/Mac cross-platform apps should happen in iOS 14. Also, Mac Messages app is said to receive some features from iOS, like stickers and effects. The next macOS will allow users to use iPad as an external display, which means it will provide official support to use your iPad as a second monitor for your Mac. Apple is also expected to bring a new Find My iPhone app, Siri Shortcuts, ability to use the Apple Watch to authorize various password-protected operations on the Mac, Screen Time and Family Sharing on the device. watchOS 6 Apple is expected to unveil the next version of its operating system for Apple Watch – watchOS 6. watchOS 6 is expected to bring a list of new features, such as a Calculator and a Books app that could likely be announced for newer Apple Watch models. It will also bring a Voice Memos app, that allows you to record conversations on the device. Further, new apps and enhanced versions of its existing health-tracking features are expected to arrive on watchOS 6. There are reports of a new menstrual-cycling app, potentially named “Cycles” and a pill-tracking app called “Doses” that reminds you to take medication. It is also rumored that Apple is set to bring the App Store to the Watch. Currently, apps on Apple Watch need to be downloaded through iPhone’s Watch app and then moved to the Watch. tvOS 13 Apple is expected to announce the upcoming operating system for Apple TV – tvOS 13 – at WWDC 2019. The company is set to launch its own upcoming TV+ streaming service later this year that will be available to stream the TV app on various devices, including the Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This content will be available via a redesigned TV+ app. So, there are chances of TV app in tvOS to be redesigned to reflect this.
